People Of The Year 2020: Chae Lee

Chae Lee is currently a junior majoring in Chemical Engineering at University of Minnesota. Her contribution has been acknowledged and nominated by her peers for Musée Magazine; we are so proud to announce her as the ninth person on the list of People of The Year 2020.

CHAE LEE’S PROFILE:

President of Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers

Undergraduate Student Researcher at UMN-TC Walcheck Lab

Student Development Representative at University of Minnesota Foundation

AEOP Apprentice at Rutgers University

Secretary at Korean Student Association

And more…

As a busy and hard working junior, Chae Lee shares that keeping her mental health balance is very important to her. Her advice is to take care of ourselves and take some short breaks when working or studying, especially when things are tangled up. Also, one thing she usually does is to talk to her friends about her problems. Therefore, Chae thinks it is crucial to take time sorting out her relationships, to consider who are truly important and supportive to her and stay away from the negative energy. “I just want to make sure to take care of the people who are important and they do the same to me,” Chae said. Caring for people she loves and knowing that they are there for her is great comfort for Chae Lee when it comes to difficult times.

In addition, Chae Lee expresses gratitude for the time at SASE. She shared that being the president gave her the opportunity to advance her professionalism and her communication skills in negotiating with companies. Besides, Chae can learn more about decision-making. “I get to learn that I cannot take all people’s opinions or make everyone happy,” Chae told us. Dealing with disagreements is also necessary for her as a leader and decision-maker as well and Chae shared that talking to the members and making a list of pros and cons are helpful in such situations.

Chae Lee is a strong, talented, modern, and diligent woman who represents our generation’s hope towards making our world better, being strong, and independent. We are proud to have her presence on campus, and we believe that Chae Lee is an inspiration for us to work hard, to contribute, and to pursue our dreams.

We all hope that Chae Lee will be happy and successful in her life after graduation.

Please stay tuned for the full article of Chae Lee and don’t forget to send her congratulations!
