Amy Choi is currently a senior at the University of Minnesota, majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Chemistry. Her contribution has been acknowledged and nominated by her peers for Musée Magazine; we are so proud to announce her as the fourth person on the list of People of The Year 2020.

AMY CHOI’S PROFILE:

When growing up, Amy Choi looks up her parents as her role models and is inspired by their hard work. Amy shares that her father did not finish college and her mother initially quit college but she came back and got a master degree. Despite these difficulties, they are finally at the point that they are doing very well. Amy Choi is inspired by her parents to live the same.

In addition, Amy Choi tells us about her passion for science and research which originates from her love for the process of discovery. Science gets her excited because through science, Amy will be able to learn about the unknown side of the world and to answer her questions of “why” and “how” certain things work. In a broader impact, Amy thinks science benefits us by proposing a realistic solution to a problem, such as the vaccine to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is invented in a short time with a “new way to deliver pathogens to the body in a safe and effective way.” Amy Choi also shares her thoughts about CRISPR/Cas9, or genetic scissor, a newly developed technology that allows us to study human genetics.

For people who are interested in a similar career, Amy advises: “Whatever choice you made is the right choice. Be patient. Be persistent. No regret. Don’t doubt your work because you can’t change your past.”

In Amy, we can see a woman of diligence, passion, wisdom, and determination. Amy definitely empowers us to be assiduous, trust ourselves, and pursue our dreams to make them become true. We are more than honored to have Amy on our campus. We all hope that Amy Choi will be happy and successful in her life after graduation.

Please stay tuned for the full article of Amy Choil and don’t forget to send her congratulations!
